ROOTED LITERARY MAGAZINE

Mission

Rooted Literary Magazine is a North Texas nonprofit organized exclusively for literary and educational purposes. Rooted Literary Magazine publishes poetry, fiction, nonfiction, speculative writing, art, photography, spoken word, music features, and short film spotlights. The magazine provides free or low-cost access to literary and artistic content that reflects diverse human experiences.

Activities

The organization offers publication opportunities, feedback, and community support to emerging writers and artists—particularly those in the Southern United States, who may lack access to publishing networks or funding.

Educational activities may include writing workshops, craft talks or panels, editorial internships, publishing education for new writers, community events centered on literature and storytelling, and programs promoting literacy and creative expression among youth or underserved communities. All programs are open to the public and provided at no or low cost.

Rooted fosters artistic community by hosting live readings, open mic nights, and community literary gatherings. These events provide accessible opportunities for writers, musicians, spoken-word performers, and other creatives to share their work publicly. The organization may partner with local arts groups, libraries, or community spaces in North Texas to hold these events.

As funding allows, Rooted will create small grants, scholarships, or honorariums to compensate contributors, support emerging Southern writers, and provide resources to publishing hopefuls.

All programs of Rooted Literary Magazine will be open to the public. Workshops, open mic nights, and publications will be accessible either free or at minimal cost. All charitable and educational activities benefit writers, readers, and community members by expanding access to the literary arts. Rooted Literary Magazine distributes its publications at minimal and mission-aligned prices.

When financially feasible, the organization offers free or discounted copies to students, emerging writers, and community members.
